Chandigarh: More often than not, when a person reaches their final year of Bachelor of Commerce, their thoughts turn to entering the world of banking. Most students are aware that they need a good average to get chance of a good job. One of the most sought after roles is that of a bank clerk. This position is the entry-level job in the banking sector. Yet, it requires adequate knowledge and passing marks in the qualification exam.
If we talk about the exam, two exams are the accepted premise for this sector. The first is the exam conducted by the State Bank of India. The second is the IBPS- Institute of Banking Personnel Selection exam. Both these exams require that people appearing for this exam have a percentage exceeding sixty percent in their Bachelor of Commerce field.
However, when it comes to the eligibility to take the exam, there is a vast difference in both. The State Bank of India, allows undergraduates to take the exam while they are completing their studies. As a result, you will notice a number of undergraduates who are in their final year sitting for this exam. They can even appear for the interview once they pass the exam.
In contrast, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) only allows undergraduates to give this exam as a practice test. When a person completes this test, he or she has to provide proof of their graduation as and when they pass the exam and have to be interviewed for the job by a panel.
The reason for the same is that while the first exam is relevant for an organization that is State Bank of India, the second covers all banks and hence requires individuals who have completed their graduation.
In fact, IBPS counts the first test given by an undergraduate to be a practice examination.
